How to do Lombok

We thought we'd do nothing much at all today on Lombok - and just enjoy this beautiful hotel on Mangsit Beach and all it has to offer..........starting with breakfast - looking out to Mt Agung in the distance, the sacred mountain of Bali....
 ...followed by some resting time.....
......admiring the view from our outdoor bathroom!
and our view across our garden to Ros and Pete's villa......
..a swim in the infinity pool followed by a few hours resting in our personal day bed overlooking Mangsit Beach..... This was my view from the day bed....

This is the only swimsuit picture you will ever see of me on purple fig.....(do you need a magnifying glass?)
We did stir long enough to go on a beach walk in the early afternoon just as storm clouds were gathering.
Pete found some local surfers who were very keen to do some business with him.......
Back at our villa, in time to dress for dinner, I was amused to discover this cute creation, courtesy of the cleaning staff, complete with my glasses!
We're all dressed and ready for G&T time just as the sun sets - especially for us!

We head down to Asmara Restaurant and Bar for dinner tonight in Senggigi..and enjoy a Sasak Rijsttafel - basically a Lombok (Sasak) version of Nasi Campur - a variety of beautifully prepared dishes characteristic of the region - and quite spicy as most Lombok (Lombok means chili!) dishes are.  My favourite was the tuna cooked in coconut milk with Indonesian spices, tamarind and lemongrass.
Afterwards, with happy memories of previous visits we walked down to the Happy Cafe for a drink and a chance to hear the great old Not Too Bad Band play their hearts out again..all our favourites from the 60s, 70s & 80s.  They were just as fantastic as they were back in 2010! The Happy Cafe has a distinct local flavour, including their slogan (on all staff t-shirts) I am drinking, I get drunk, I fall over, No problem, I am happy!!
