Big night at the Indus

Friday 8th April
The "girls" were all keen to do some silver shopping this morning so Eddy the wonder driver was able to get us two cars at short notice for the drive to Celuk and the little silver shop belonging to I Ketut Pasta where we were able to make the morning very worthwhile for Ketut's family business.

The "boys" stayed in Ubud finding good coffee and the wonderful wood fired pizzas at Umah Pizzas in Jalan Bisma.

Us girls also visited the Sukawati Art Markets where we spent a long time buying $1 fans and not much else. The locals also offered us a taste of fresh durian which we found a bit strong (a real onion aftertaste I thought!), but very nice of them to offer.

Back in Ubud, sweaty and shopped out, we found solace at our favourite Three Monkeys, and some more tuna salad and coconut juice for lunch.

It was our big celebration dinner at the Indus Restaurant tonight. The night started with chest thumpingly strong drinks hosted by the Lebangs in the beautiful garden setting at Cendana Resort and Spa and the excitement for us of seeing Josh and Jody and the girls, all bright eyed and excited, here in Bali with us for the first time.

Our celebration dinner at the Indus was wonderful, exceeding all our expectations - gorgeous setting and food, wild cocktails, so much laughter, and birthday cakes for the three of us with BIG birthdays this year, all delivered with Bali charm and attention to detail.

The most unexpected fun of the night came with the live music and the group of dancers from the Ubud Salsa Club who got us all up dancing to the Latino vibe (including the teenagers at the very end of the night). The teenagers were probably a bit aghast at our exhibitionism (and energy) but we oldies all thought we were pretty fabulous on the night!!

We ended off a fantastic night with the Watsons at the CP Lounge where we soon found the scene "was not very Ubud" with a whole lot of pretentious people, paparazzi and not very good live music!

But full marks to the Indus for making this a night to remember, especially for us and 16 of our dear friends and family who have made the journey to celebrate this big birthday milestone year with us.
