Coming back to Canberra

My friends Jane and Tania and me go back a LONG way. We catch up every year or so - which is no mean feat because we all live in different states now - and every time we do it is just the same as it always was between us: lots of love and laughter (and wine), lots of trust and sharing and lots of talk about art.

We met up together in Canberra this time - the first time we've been together here for a few decades. There was lots to show Jane who's been away from Canberra the longest: the buzzy and arty New Acton precinct, hip and happening Braddon, the new Kingston Foreshore, the Canberra food and brewery scene and our remarkable new Arboretum.

We did lots of walking of course, catching up with an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery and the "Honour Their Spirit"  installation up the road at the National War Memorial.

… and the tiny and secluded Aboriginal memorial to the fallen near the base of Mt Ainslie.
We enjoyed the official opening of two wonderful exhibitions at Claire's gallery on Friday night. Rob took this beautiful pic of Tania in gallery 2 (in her Mirka Mora earrings)………….
in the process of getting this group shot of the three of us (well done Rob!).
We were trying to emulate this picture of us taken almost thirty years ago at the Penrith Art Gallery (the opening of Tania's sculpture exhibition). We've hardly changed at all have we??
