Dancing birthday

Granny K's belated birthday celebration started quietly enough. But a glass or three of the sparkling stuff certainly helped us get into the party mood. The three littlies needed no extra sparkles however.

Ella now regards Ollie and Angie as her two very best friends. Ollie is the charming elder statesman cousin and extremely huggable and kissable (so Ella thinks). She is much more wary of Angie - with good reason. But she knows already it can be good sport, finding ways around his bossy, big boy ways. She always gets lots of back up in asserting herself from the strong women in the family.

Mum requested carrot cake for her birthday..which I hadn't made for years. All that grated carrot is a good foil for the slathers of sugar in that cream cheese frosting!!

The party went off after that. The Michael Jackson and Pink CDs came out and everyone under 3 and over 30 went wild!!!

Rob and I were dispppointed to miss out on the preview screening of Balibo yesterday afternoon (full house at Dendy). Instead we saw Beautiful Kate, directed by Rachel Ward and starring Ben Mendelsohn, Rachel Griffiths, Bryan Brown and the beautiful desolate landscape of the the Flinders Ranges in SA. We thought it was a wonderful film..very gothic, with great performances; and it really packed a punch! We think it was just as wonderful as Disgrace which was the best film we'd seen all year up until yesterday.
