Ubud rice fields

We did our third rice field walk this morning, choosing the long, familiar track leading to Sari Organic that starts off Jalan Raya Ubud down near Jalan Bisma. There are a lot more villas lining the track close to town these days but we did eventually find the more familiar rice field views once we got past the edges of town.

Although we could still see a fair bit of construction under way along the track .........
and we were rewarded with a lot more views of quacking ducks on our walk this morning...............

We walked the full length of the track (4 klm or so?) - until we eventually reached a road that enabled us to cross the river and get back up to Jalan Suweta - which is one of the main roads leading back to Ubud township.
We found this part of the walk fascinating - with small village life happening all around us......

We were intrigued by this construction site on Jalan Suweta - a new hotel for the Adiwana group. It's the first time we've seen modern steel frame construction and even a small mechanical digger on a building site in Ubud!
... but still workers wearing thongs and no scaffolding!
We stopped at the beautiful Wapa di Ume Hotel for a mid walk drink this morning. The Wapa di Ume is an old school boutique Bali hotel with beautiful views of the Ubud countryside. The open air pavilion at the entry to the hotel was a great area to cool down and enjoy the quiet away from the road traffic

We still had a 2 klm walk ahead of us from here back to town.
We spent a good while around the pool back at Cendana - cooling off after our long walk - before hunger drove us to a late lunch at Tutmak on Jalan Dewi Sita.

I'd forgotten how delicious the food was at unassuming Tutmak! These (sashimi grade) rare tuna spring rolls were just beautiful.
and my Nasi Campur (with tuna) was delicious - even better than Cafe Wayan's I thought!
A very thoughtful Tutmak patron offered to take our photo - so nice to have a lovely pic that proves we've been on this lovely holiday together.
