Sydney break - part one

We rewarded ourselves for making it through our Covid experience with a four night stay in Sydney. The fun started last Thursday, with lunch on the way into the city, at our fave Pool Cafe at Maroubra Beach. Rob always takes a pic of me here, sitting at our usual table with that backdrop of the mural!

We made our way over to Manly after lunch, staying at our usual studio villa on Fairlight Street - a perfect spot for us these days. We went for a late afternoon walk along the beachfront that evening, in perfect (but very cool) weather conditions.
The tidal pool at Fairy Bower Beach .....
and Shelly Beach at sunset ...
Looking back towards Manly from Shelly Beach ....
Shooting for the moon (thank you Rob) ......
Last pic from a magical sunset ........
Friday morning we were so excited to be heading into the CBD - first time for us in over two (pandemic) years!! We took the ferry from Manly Wharf...
... and caught the new (for us anyway) Light Rail from Circular Quay up to the Queen Victoria Building in George Street (masks mandatory on public transport in Sydney!).
The QVB looked amazing - shops full of opulence and crowds of people. Around the corner in the Westfield Centre crowds were queuing patiently to enter Chanel and Mui Mui just like in the old days (???)

Rob had enough of shopping quite quickly and headed out to Coogee for the afternoon. As for me I stayed where I was, reacquainting myself with the QVB, Alpha 60 and David Jones in Westfield. I headed out to Coogee much later to meet up with Rob and one of the other owners of our apartment block on Coogee Bay Road. I took the Light Rail all the way out to the top of Coogee Bay Road - amazing!
While Rob had spent the afternoon taking a wander around our favourite parts of Coogee Bay.

85 Coogee Bay Road is still standing proud, but its 100 year old (almost) timber windows are in a bad way. We're in the midst of working out a plan to replace/repair them (at great cost).

We had a good meeting with our builder/owner neighbour that afternoon and made good progress on the plan we're getting together.

We were rewarded for the rather long commute after, back to Manly (by Light Rail and Ferry) with this sight - from the Ferry Wharf waiting deck! What a city this is...
