Back in Canberra it's our favourite time of the year - beautiful early Autumn weather and a real softening of our harsh summer light. Our city looks its best at this time of the year!
This week (the 31st March to be exact) was the 100th birthday of the Royal Australian Air Force and to mark this milestone there was an amazing, one hour long fly past, across Lake Burley Griffin, of all sorts of aircraft (60 of them - some really old ones as well as some supersonic modern ones) from the Air Force’s one hundred year history.
Living where we do it was only a 5 minute walk to get us a ringside seat, on the edge of the lake, to the Air Force's fabulous 100th birthday show......
Here they come ................
This was a group of real oldies - including a Lockheed Hudson and a feisty little Spitfire.....
Then in quick progression we saw Joint Strike Fighters, F-35s, F-16 Phantoms, Hercules & Caribou Transports, Hawker Hurricanes, Orion Submarine Detectors and lots of Boeing military jets.
And at the end of the fly-past there was a 15 minute aerobatic display by the Roulettes (6 Air Force planes flying in formation doing amazing, crazy stunts in the air!). It was SPECTACULAR on this perfect blue sky day!!
Today, Easter Sunday, we were lucky to see most of the Canberra family here at St Germain for an extended brunch - play in the park - and general chocolate eating extravaganza.
There's quite a big age gap now between the teenagers and nine year old Abi - but she holds her own very well, and the big ones are always inclusive when it comes to ball games in our Hassett Park.
Joshy and the girls invented the "mark in the park" game in their backyard. But it can be played at a whole new level in this expansive space.
And the fitness equipment in our park continues to be an attraction for these athletic girls ......
Joshy sent us this image late today of his Easter achievement - Abi's "Radar" is finished! Radar has proper pony proportions and just needs his tack (when the paint is dry) for him to be fully operational. Lucky Abi!
