Narrawallee weekend

Josh and Jody managed to book a lovely, spacious airbnb in Narrawallee for the Canberra Day long weekend - and we were lucky enough to be invited along too!

We were able to take the girls to the coast early, after lunch on Friday, and within half an hour of us landing we were off to find Narrawallee Beach (this part of the south coast was unfamiliar territory for all of us!). But first we had to try out the play equipment in Matron Porter Reserve didn't we!

By the time we got on to the beach it was after 5.00pm and the breeze was pretty fresh - but there was no stopping the girls getting their feet wet.

And the rock pools were beckoning ..........
There was lots of sea life to entrance them ......
The girls managed to catch some baby whiting in the shallow pools and insisted on taking them back to the house overnight for safe keeping. Luckily they (the fish) survived the ordeal and were safely released back to the ocean the next morning - to live another day!
The next morning (a beautiful warm, sunny morning), with Josh and Jody there, the girls couldn't wait to show them everything they'd discovered ......

And then the waves on beautiful Narrawallee Beach beckoned .....

We all loved Narrawallee's beautiful beach!

The pic below is looking south towards Bannister Head (home of Rick Stein's Bannister's by The Sea and Bannister's Pavillion) and North Mollymook.

Josh is the master of the Bar-b-Que (one of his many skills). He cooked beautiful meals all weekend - after we sourced some fabulous quality meat at nearby Milton and seafood at Mollymook Harbour

Another fabulous holiday feast for us ..........
The girls had a wonderful weekend: lots of beach play and surfing, communion with nature, shopping in the beautiful country hamlet of Milton, some fishing, a backyard game of cricket and some hilarious games of Twister.

We headed to Narrawallee Inlet on Sunday morning - about a kilometre or so North of where our aibnb was.....
The tide was out a long way so the fishing wasn't as productive as the girls had hoped - but Ella and Josh both caught a (small) fish so all was not lost.

But in a weekend of highlights I do think that one of the things Abi enjoyed the most was all the bird life she could interact with from the house's back verandah.....

Abi took this picture of the kookaburra ......
We all loved our stay at Narrawallee - and have vowed we'll be back!
