Another birthday

This is the second year we've all gathered for breakfast at the Hyatt to celebrate Rod's and Ollie's July - August birthdays. I think we can safely say it's now a tradition!

Claire and Jeremy organised both these events and we're so grateful - it's becoming harder and harder to get everyone together at the weekend with all their work, basketball, snowboarding, gymnastics, and swimming commitments.

But it's always lovely and calm at the Hyatt with plenty of room for our rapidly growing teens and pre-teens to spread themselves around and find enough yummy things to eat.

Claire also organised an amazing cake for the birthday boys this year. I wasn't quick enough to get a good picture of the cake "reveal"......  But there were a lot of oohs and ahs......

Can you believe this cake? Decorated especially to celebrate Ollie's and Rod's shared interest in everything Mathematical ......

Those incredibly realistic "pencils" were all edible...

And that calculator looked like an actual working model (but it was edible too).

Ella took on the daunting task of cutting the cake with her usual aplomb (that girl has the potential to be PM one day).

There was even a little Hyatt cake and candle for each of the birthday boys.

Not only was the icing amazing but the cake itself was totally delicious too!

Abi HATES having her photo taken but never minds showing the camera some bits of nature or wildlife ..... She loved this dinner plate camellia in the Hyatt's courtyard garden.

We all had a bit of "blue tongue-itis" after eating the icing on that amazing cake.
